I am sharing my journey on how I learned the ins and outs of software development and how I finally started my first Software Engineer class so that others on a similar path will stay motivated to continue their journey. I hope to empower others to never give up on their hopes and dreams.

Once I graduated and started applying for IT roles, I came to realize that I wasn’t prepared. I didn’t have family or friends that could provide any insight into the interview process. None of them had received a higher education nor interviewed for a professional job. Those days, I didn’t know where to find the resources to help me prepare for the technical interviews. I didn’t know that interviewing itself was part of the learning process.

In 2019, I was feeling lost and without a sense of purpose in my career. I wanted to align my mission of improving and empowering people’s lives with my career path. I also wanted to be a direct influence and a decision-maker in the product I was supporting. One of my cousins had joined a software boot camp and there was a scholarship program. I managed to join Moringa School to refine my career again and strengthen my software development skills.

My journey was slow and steady because I was also improving other parts of my life that have helped me become a better person and ultimately a better developer. Now I am a Software Engineer working on a Mobile Development that is helping people’s lives and I get to work with an amazing team. To wake up every day knowing that I get to do what I love was worth the long journey.
